The time of waiting has finally gone by, the group stages are kicking off tonight and all the actions of Champions league returns with it.
Here are the matches for today ;
The most interesting of which should be Barcelona vs Juventus, the two clubs met last season in the champions league semis last season with Barcelona unable to register a goal in the two legs losing 0-4 at Italy and drawing 0-0 at home.
Both teams have lost important players in between but it still promises to be a good match, Barcelona has lost Neymar to PSG but strengthened with Ousmanne Dembele towards the end of the transfer window, Juventus meanwhile held on to Dybala after rumours of Barcelona interests but lost Dani Alves, and top notch defender Bonucci to rivals AC Milan.
Juventus also streghtened as they brought in Wojiech Sczesny and some other players.
Barcelona have won 13 of their last 16 Champions League group games (D2 L1).
They have also scored in 43 of their last 44 group games, the only exception coming against Benfica in December 2012 (0-0) when Barçawere already guaranteed of topping their group.
Barcelona have won 19 of their last 21 Champions League games atthe Camp Nou (D2), their last defeat dating back to May 2013 against Bayern Munich (0-3).
This is Juventus’ 18th appearance in the Champions League, a new record for an Italian side ahead of AC Milan (17).
Barcelona’s Ousmanne Dembele will be pushing for his first, and Buffon should replace Sczesny in post for Juventus, Ardan Turan and Rafinha aren’t fit for Barcelona and Giorgio Chiellini is a doubt for Juventus, Juan Cuadrado is on suspension.
