Nigeria Is 146th Most Corrupt Country Out Of 180, 4th Most Corrupt In West Africa
Nigeria is ranked 146th most corrupt country in the world out of 180 as per ‘Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index’.
This of course is the lowest the nation has ranked and it is also going 10 places backwards from 136th since President Muhammadu Buhari came into power.
Also, out of the 19 countries in the West African region, Nigeria is ranked the fourth most corrupt country, ranking ahead of only Cameroon, Chad, Libya and Equatorial Guinea.
The report was contained in the 2019 ‘Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index’ released earlier this year, but popular American Professor of Applied Economics at the Johns Hopkins, John H. Hanke reminded everyone yesterday on his Twitter page.
He wrote, “#Nigeria now ranks 146th out of 180 countries in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index, slipping from 136th place when @MBuhari was first inaugurated. Under Buhari’s “watchful eye”, corruption runs rampant.”
