Popular video-sharing social networking service, TikTok is currently facing backlash for its role in promoting quite a large number of vices, hence the trending hash tag #tiktokexposed.
The application founded by Zhang Yiming is used to create short dance, lip-sync, comedy and talent videos but has now gone beyond that in recent times.
Users in India are giving a 1-star rating to the app on the Google Play Store for the past few days due to which the app’s current rating has come down to 1.3 from 4.5 on the app store.
The whole 1-star rating is caused by Twitter trending #tiktokexposed which is calling for the ban of the application, especially in India.
However this began when popular YouTuber CarryMinati posted a video on YouTube roasting popular TikToker Amar Siddiqui in the wake of the ‘YouTube vs TikTok’ battle.
The video gathered millions of views and supports from viewers, however, got removed from the video-sharing platform as it didn’t follow the terms of service.
The situation got further escalated when another TikToker Faisal Siddiqui posted a TikTok video endorsing acid attacks, leading to more poor ratings on the Google Play Store and demand of ban on the app.
This isn’t the first time the ByteDance owned app will be banned on stores as users are now agitating for the ban of the app.
